Guest Designer - Pooja

Hello everybody! This is Deepti and I'm so happy to invite our very talented guest designer

She is a very good virtual friend of mine and I really love all her unique thoughts, recycling projects, awesome quilling and ofcourse her CAS style too.. ;) She made a beautiful card for our current challenge here at CSCC where the theme is

Here is a little bit about her!!!

Hello friends! I would like to Thank Deepti and Catchy Girls for giving me this opportunity! Let me Introduce myself, I am a Software Engineer and an Android Developer from Maharashtra. I have been interested in crafts of some or other types since childhood. Be it making cards, altering something or reusing. It was in 2012 that I came across quillling which led me to blogs and searching more about quilling led me to craft and challenge blogs. This is when I started my blog "Reusing, cards & Quilling".

As you all know Catchy Girls have challenged us to create love themed shaker card and It can be for any one brother, sister, parents and even friends. My card is for my Friend and I wanted something other than heart n pinks.

A little about my card .I wanted the card to be meaningful, depicting what I love about my friend. So I created a panel by drawing speech bubbles with words describing what friendships means to me. I wanted a shape which is gentle and soft and nothing could beat a feather!  Hope you like it.

WOW! I just love it Pooja. Thank you so much for being our guest and dear friends don't forget to play along with our SHAKER CARD challenge. Thank you.. :)

CSCC#11 - Love Shakers cards

Dear friends,

I am shylaa here to show you on my take with our current challenge - Love shakers card

Since i love to create everything with quilling, i wanted to try a quilled shakers card.

Steps involved:(was experimenting - hence couldn't take a step by step photo)
  1.  Cut a heart shape cardstock or use a heart shaped diecut. Outlined the heart shape with beehive scrolls between two strips
  2. Then put whatever you like inside the heart to give the shakers effect - I have used glass beads here
  3. Seal the heart with a transparent sheet and then outline the heartshape with quilling strips above the transparent sheet (quite challenging - use fast drying glue). Then attach beehived scrolls to the outlined strip. Allow it dry
  4. Your shaker heart is ready to mount on any card stock and decorate as you wish
  5. It is very simple - you don't need to use any foam - you can use any basic shapes of quilling for this and follow the steps from 1 to 3 as above
Here is quilled shakers card
You you got a idea to create a easy shaker card. Pls join us fun here at CSCC#11 - Love shakers card

Look forward to see your beautiful entries.

CSCC #11 -QUICK AND EASY SHAKER CARD USING RECYCLED MATERIALS

Hello friends, this is Ramya here and today its my turn to share my inspiration with you all . This month's theme is shaker cards and you can find the details of the challenge here.  I made a simple aquarium themed shaker card.....

This card is very simple to make and takes less than half an hour to finish. I took a white cardstock and made a blue border using gelatos Then I stuck the sentiment ( printed). The thread is recycled from an old jewellery . I have cut the anchor from cereal box.

Now for the shaker  part I have recycled my jewellery findings cover. Cut a square in the cardstock with the same size as that of the square in the cover. Paste this cover at the backside of the cardstock and add the shaker elements. Here I have added white crystals and little water ( to get the aquarium effect). Then seal the edges of the shaker using hot glue gun such that the elements do not come out. Paste the image of your choice which will be visible through the shaker part. ( here I have drawn fishes and hearts)
Thats all!! Your shaker card is ready!!

That was easy isn't it?? Hope you all like it . Do join us at CSCC #11 and have fun. You can link your creations here.

SHAKEr Card for My Dad!

Hello and good morning dear friends!! This is Deepti here to share my inspiration project for the current challenge

If you want to know more details about the challenge and the rules and guidelines kindly click HERE..

Well, I made a Birthday Shaker card for my dad! I was thinking like how can I express my love to him?? Then this simple idea came to my mind, 'making a shaker card'.. :D He liked it so much and was surprised to see all the shaker elements and mechanism.. (y)

I took a card base that is a standard sized one and stamped repeatedly with 'Bo Bunny - Happy Birthday' sentiment. Then I took another piece of card stock and adhered the 'Snap card travel themed note card'. Later I adhered 'Lawn Fawn - Alphebet stickers' and spelled the word 'best dad'. I  love that font so much.. ;) I then took another piece of card stock, created a window and adhered an acetate and assembled all things together! Last but not least, I filled the window with the sequins from 'Lawn Fawn', 'Avery Elle' and some local ones.. And that's it!! All done!!

Hope you like this card and I hope you would give it try. Thank you so much for stopping by.. See you!!

CSCC #11 - 'LOVE SHAKE'r Cards

Hi! Nandini here, with my take on the current challenge

"LOVE SHAKEr Cards"

I love shaker cards because they are super fun, with so many possibilities. Both kids and adults love them and they are oh-so trendy right now!

I was so excited that my very first DT post was going to be a shaker card that I ended up making not 1 or 2, but 3 cards! So lets get down to them right away!

I decided to break out my stash of pattern papers which I have been hoarding forever. The stamp set is Bold Wishes from CAS-ual Fridays. I heat embossed it with Mint Green & Red Glitz EPs from Ranger and Wow respectively. The heart and circle dies are from Couture Creations. I mounted the whole thing on a piece of fun foam.

The next card was inspired by a great tutorial on non-bulky shaker cards by the fabulous Jennifer Mcguire. You can check it out here.

I have put together few pics that show the steps in making this card.

All the Couture Creations dies that I used with the die cuts.

Almost there! Notice that I have not used any foam between the acetate layers. This kept my card flat while still retaining the charm of  a shaker card.

The stamp is from A Tree for All Seasons by Winnie & Walter, embossed with Red Glitz EP by Wow!.

For the third card, I went back to my old love, sewing.

Here are the various elements that I put together to make this card.

The pattern paper is a free download that I had printed out ages ago. I stamped the sentiment from the set Wonderful Words by CAS-ual Fridays in Versamark on the vellum. Then heat embossed with Magenta Twinkle and Mint Green by EPs by Wow! and Ranger respectively. I used a zig zag stitch to make a pocket for the sequins and little hearts that I punched out. A small length of pink velvet ribbon and a doily from my stash completed the card.

So what are you waiting for? Grab your supplies and get creating. We, the Catchy Girls, are waiting to see your gorgeous creations! You can enter your cards HERE.

CSCC #11 - 'LOVE SHAKE'r Cards

Hello friends!!This is Vinita here and I am sharing my take on the current challenge at CSCC #11 - 'LOVE SHAKE'r Cards.

This Valentine's Day card is just exploding with love!

I used Nellie's multi frame's MF D 022 die to cut out the window for the shaker. Next I linked my two die cut hearts and filled them with some shaker goodness. The backing sheet is a silver color glittered sheet. I placed a textured pink colored felt sheet on another piece of red CS for more texture and depth. The lovely papers are from Confetties papers(Jags) and I used some soft pink glittered washi tape.

I put the enamel heart inside the shaker portion of the card and then filled it with sequins and micro beads. The sentiment is stamped in bubblegum from Kaisercraft clear stamp-Calendar.

Here is the inside view:  I embossed the Happy Valentine's day and highlighted it.

Five tips and tricks for making shaker cards:
1. When selecting shaker pieces, try to use dimensional things like most of the ones I used here: flat-back enamel hearts (I wanted the card recipient to think of love being in the air everywhere when shaking this card :) ),sequins, and few micro beads. Thicker or round pieces stick less to the inside edges of the shaker.
2. To create enough space for dimensional shaker pieces, use at least 2 layers of fun foam when making the spacer rings.
3. Double adhesive foam sheet are also work beautifully, easy approach now.
4. When adhering acetate, use E6000. Glossy Accents may work too, but I find that it is less durable.
5. If you are using double foam tape, before closing up the shaker compartment with all the shaker pieces inside, brush some baby or talcum powder along the edges of the spacer rings. This should help eliminate any residual stickiness from gluing the ring layers together, which could sabotage free shaker movement.

I hope you like my card and got inspired to play along with our CSCC #11 - 'LOVE SHAKE'r Cards  . We all catchy girls can't wait to see what you come up with!! So hop on to your supplies and amaze us now!
May your day always be filled with love.
