Create your own background with rainbow colors but the twist is there shouldn't be a rainbow on your project.

Here are some guidelines to help you -

1. Create anything-card/ LO/ box/ bag .

2.Create your own background with rainbow colors(inks/pattern papers/acrylic color/anything that brings color) without a rainbow in it.
3.You can use any technique to make you background

Are You A Thrifty Crafter

Hello Friends,

This is Poornima. I am here with my inspiration for the May Challenge  " The Thrifty Crafter". With so many costly supplies in our stash, isn't it challenging to make a card in just Rs. 25.  For inspiration, you can check out fabulous cards from our DT team. And if you have missed Itsy Bitsy inspiration , you can check it out here. I am sure these inspirations will help you to bring out the thrifty crafter hidden inside you all.

Now over to my card. I have made a scallop circle card using nestabilities. The card is very simple with no stamps, inks. I have used calla lilies and pearls as embellishments.

Here Goes my Cost Calculation -

Cardstock (3/4th sheet) - 5 Rs.

White cardstock (1/4th sheet) - 2 Rs. 
Calla lilies- 6 Rs.
PP - 1  Rs. (small pieced is used from 6*6 paper)
Sentiment - 1 Rs.
Pearls - negligible
Cardstock for butterflies -negligible

A Popcorn Card in Just Rs. 9 For The Thrifty Crafter Challenge

Hi everyone, it's Sunehra presenting the Itsy Bitsy inspiration for this month's challenge here at Catchy Challenges. It's quite an interesting challenge as we are required to create something fabulous but restrict the cost to a maximum of Rs. 25. Now I don't know about you but I'm a 'no holds barred' kind of crafter. I just go nuts on embellishments and the like. So this time I found myself really putting on my thinking cap to present something great within the budget. And here is my creation - A Popcorn Card and the cost was just Rs. 9.

My husband and I are big movie fans. With 2 toddlers in the house, we really relish our 'Date Nights' which are usually Saturday evenings when my folks take on the kids and we head out to the movies. My favourite snack is Caramel Popcorn and with that we both settle down to enjoy the flick. So this card is kind of a tribute to my husband and this weekly ritual.

I've used the same principle as a flower pot card except instead of the flowers, it's 'popcorn' which is actually rolled up and crushed up scraps of paper. I added some brown using a marker. And instead of the pot, it's a popcorn tub. I created that striped design myself, using red punch paper as the base and adding strips of white paper on top. I used a rotary cutter to get the scallop edge at the top. I actually referred to a project in the Fast and Fabulous Cardmaking Book at Itsy Bitsy where they explain how to create a flower pot card. It was a massive help and enabled me to quickly create the template and modify it to my requirements. Here's the cover of the book and the page that I referred to. 

When I actually calculated the cost of the card, I was shocked to find it below10 bucks. How cool is that. Here's the break up:

• Red Punch Paper A4 Sheet - Rs. 3
• Cream Punch paper Half A4 Sheet - Rs 1.50
• White Printer Paper (a few strips) - Rs 0.50
• Cream Card Stock (Quarter 12" by 12" Sheet) - Rs. 3
• Ribbon - Rs. 1

TOTAL: Rs. 9 only!

The CC team has come up with a unique theme this month - “THE THRIFTY CRAFTER - create something gorgeous for less than Rs 25”. So get set and put on your thinking (or should I say creative) caps to bring out the best of your imagination on a budget of Rs.25.

Challenging isn’t it?  Well but after all it is a “CATCHY” challenge  :D !!!!!!!

Let me now show you what the catchy girls have created.

Being thrifty is often equated to being miserly but our DT has proved this incorrect, they have been rather ‘thrifty’ with their supplies but ‘generous’ in ideas to motivate all to take on this challenge.

Here are some guidelines to help you -

1. Create a card/ LO/ box/ bag which costs <Rs.25.

2. Mention the approximate cost of all tangible items used e.g. CS, PP, embellishment, lace, ribbon, etc.

3. Reusable items can be used but the cost will not be included e.g. dies, stamps, inks, colors, punches, etc.

4. You can alter / recycle items and this will carry no cost.

Itsy Bitsy Inspiration for Catchy Challenges

Hi everyone, Sunehra here from Itsy Bitsy and I am thrilled to present an inspiration from Itsy Bitsy for current challenge here at Catchy Challenges. As you know the theme is to ' Make a CAS card choosing any one of the keywords given below.
1. Hot
2. Hello
3. Holidays.

I don't know about you but CAS or Clean and Simple Cards don't come that easy to me so I had to work really hard on this project. A couple of cards were rejected and now finally I have 3 to present, one for each of the keywords.

Here's my Hello Card. I used some adorable Portacraft cellphone stickers from Itsy Bitsy and their signature alphabet tags to make this card which I'm hoping looks like the keypad of a cellphone. I went quite literal with the keyword. Fun isn't it!

For my 'Hot' Card I wanted it to be a bright and sunny creation because that's pretty much what the weather is like here in Bangalore. Nothing says sunny  better than sunflowers so using my Itsy Bitsy Flower punch with some yellow punch paper I created the layered sunflowers and for the center of each flower, I added a brown foam dot from Itsy Bitsy.

The base layer is a lovely deep green and on top of that I embossed some white card stock with an Itsy Bitsy floral embossing folder. I've added a closeup of the embossing below. For the sentiment I took the words from the chorus of the song "I can see clearly now" which is quite apt for this card. It reads: "It's gonna be a bright bright BRIGHT sunshiny day".

Finally for my 'Holiday' card I decided to make it all masculine. I had recently got these amazing 'World Traveller' stickers from Itsy Bitsy and they were just perfect for this card. I used some paper from the DCVW Natural Stack as an underlay for each of the sticker embellishments you see. There is a plane, a suitcase, sunglasses, passport and a tour book. It's quite fabulous actually, the suitcase actually feels like leather. 

And here's the inside of the card - a simple message for anyone going on a trip: Happy Holidays! Now I really want to go somewhere!

I gotta say this challenge really got me thinking and I hope you like what my thoughts produced and that you're inspired to create something. So far the entries are looking really good! So all the best crafters and thanks so much for dropping by!

Hi, I am Megha Jain. I am a curious homemaker (SAHM in joint family). I call myself curious, as I soon get curious about things. I try to learn new things out of curiosity. I try to find and clear my concept each and every time. My family calls me crazy. However, I call myself a learner, as I feel that every second of our life we learn something new.

Crafting has been my passion since childhood. I don't remember from which age, but my mom recalls, that I have been drawing before I joined my preschool. In my school, I was almost always a first place winner in drawing. I used to make cards from childhood and gift on birthdays etc.

I keep changing my hobbies, I can't say what will keep me up to one hobby and till when. My kids have grown, and now I have a lot of free time.. which took me again to my favourite work. From two years, I am interested in paper crafting. I am loving every bit of it. I love making cards, envelopes, quilled projects, scrapbooks... any anything related to paper craft.

I am really thankful to my hubby and family who has always given me their full support. Happy I am here on catchy challenges.

Hi I’m Tanvi!

I began as a microbiology researcher, turned to education, then to the lab and it seems that I have finally found the love of my life.

Always had an artistic bend which was often reflected in my science journals & research projects as well! But I got wings for my passion to fly only now, which isn’t late by the way!!

I started crafting seriously quite a while ago but blogging was a slow starter for me.

However once it got started, I have not looked back. I have managed a decent collection of tools and paraphernalia relating to crafting. Having won a couple of challenges and DT invites has given me immense satisfaction & encouragement to pursue my passion.

My idea of giving some time for myself is to spend time with paper,glue,my tools and now jewellery supplies.I love experimenting and learning new crafts and to be frank I design my stuff when I go to sleep or when I am cooking.As a child I was always keen in making cards for friends and family.I used to find new techniques to make others feel special on their day.Always wanted to be a good Artist and crafter.With the support of family I have been making time for my passion with 2 kids around..
I enjoy Rangoli making,sketching,painting(on my to do list),jewellery making,polymer clay,glass painting,paper quilling and last but not the least cardmaking/scrapbooking/

Stamping.I hope in future as well I continue to learn and experiment with new crafting techniques everyday.

Hello!!

Yes! As promised I'm back with a 'hello' card. Here is the card!

I've stamped the 'hello' with Scrappy cat alphabetical stamps in different Momento inks. I also stamped the fuax stitch line from Prima rose and the butterflies (paper pieced) are from Inkadinkado stampsets.

Currently I am a stay-at-home mother for a 3.5 years old toddler. I am an MCA from JNU in New Delhi, and worked in IBM and Oracle for 1.5 years. When I conceived, I decided to take a break from my job, and since have been a full time stay-at-home mom to my little one. Meanwhile I started a food blog and the last few months has seen the interest in crafts taking over.
